Well now that I have sensibly changed to title of this post I will run through a series of posts dedicated to the artists I admire the most and those I consider genius'.
These will cover a broader spectrum than you might thing and some will not actually make it in here due to the types of modern music this is meant to cover. One in particular would be Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart!
Mike Oldfield. Oh what a genius he is and of the albums of his I absolutely adore and some which failed to get the recognition they deserve are ...
Tubular Bells
Tubular Bells III
Ommadawn
Hergest Ridge
Platinum
Tres Lunas
Song of Distant Earth
Music of the Spheres
I admit there are still some I have not gotten round to listen to just yet, lol.
Tres Lunas is an oddity because when I first heard it I would swear I had heard it before but had never heard the album before ever. SO I ended up presuming it had been used in a film, TV programme or a TV advert and it had stuck in the back of my mind but is odd because...
Music of the Spheres and as beautiful as it is it comprises of the musical instruments normally only heard in classical music. Indeed the first time I heard any of this album at all was on Classic FM and I thought 'hey, this sounds like Mike Oldfield but it cannot be?'
Also impressive is that I was playing the CD in the background with a friend round and he turned and said 'this sounds like Mike Oldfield?!' That was my late friend Kenneth Walter Bunn and may the man rest in peace! Miss you old friend. He is the reason I started these blogs.
Now may have missed out a few too, bit tired right now so not thinking straight. I will edit this as and when I need to as probably I will need to do the others that follow.
