Triple Flange Earbuds on my AIAIAIs

First off I want to say my little experiment is still a go and the parts are on there way to me, COULD be here tomorrow but more likely Monday 3rd December.

Meanwhile I received these, pictured below, Triple Flanged Ear Buds today in the post I ordered via the Amazon website.

I was originally wanting memory foams from Shure or Comply but due to prices looked at these by Shure but due to prices that are taking the pi...mickey I found these at £5.99?!

I thought they would be crap and was immediately obvious that the diameter of my buds openings were a fair bit bigger than those on these Silicon Buds but it was not a problem. After some teasing they went on pretty tight and with some twisting went right up the the main body, no fear of them coming off like the supplied ones did then?!

Also they sound pretty OK for cheap silicone buds and I went out to run some errands so took them for a test and to my shock NEVER ONCE did either earphone come out of my ear?!

I very much doubt sound isolation (leakage) is very good as when there was no music I could hear people speaking to me. But as I do not travel on public transport during rush hours and not much anyway unless empty it does not matter a jot to me.

NO MUSIC?! NO MEMORY?! SWEEX OPTIMUO!

One to avoid for so many reasons I cannot be arsed to list them all...

oh OK buttons, screen, tricky, problematic, touch a button and it drops volume a couple of levels. Refuses to acknowledge its own memory and refuses to acknowledge top Sandisk memory cards. Though both these never appear the same time so it is 50% of the time for each, always reads ONE and not the OTHER!

How does a piece of crap like this get sold in the UK?!

Anywhere for that matter?!?!

Grrr still refuses to read from FLICKR?!?! Numb-nuts you people!! LMAO!!

I will be back to add this in now I have been forced over to Picasa?! No Picasa refuses to upload my pictures and Blogger refuses to see my pictures on my FLICKR URLs, hmm that is covenient?!

Apparently CASH would sort it out, no wait a minute ... aren't bloggers not supposed to MAKE money and not SPEND money?!

Go figure!

AIAIAI Y-CONNECTS

Crap name but great sound!!

Well I have referred to them several times and probably had many readers, not that  have many, wondering that in the world I was on about...

Well due to a curious thing in that my new Sony Walkman has transformed these and they were already damn good anyway I thought I might cover them here.

Oddly I have had a problem with these which I initially thought was something to do with the earphones but I am now 99% convinced, and I NEVER end up wrong when I am THAT convinced, that this is down to my left ear having some kind of problem. Rather bizarrely I have been well aware of a problem in my right ear for years and the sensitivity is less so than the left. However when I got these particular in ear headphones whenever I used the large and long ear-buds in the picture my hearing would go down by half or more. Rather like when you ears pop through air pressure and everything goes dull! This is what takes place when I try to use these on my left ear whereas the right has no issues. In an attempt to correct this I pierced many holes with a sewing needle in the silicone and even made a small cut and now though they still make my ears pop I can wiggle them around and this stops. However the monitor is still so loosely placed in my ear that if used while out it starts to slip out every ten minutes or so.

Now they sound better than the Atomic Floyds, which are not In-Ear headphones and need more power, hence an upcoming series of testable theories I have in mind. Certainly going out these AiAiAi's are fabulous. Normally retails around £65 I believe and made in Belgium.

They come in a fantastic container that really caught my eye and I spotted these in TK Maxx for £25 around a year ago! There were other colours but a bot loud and gaudy, not to mention girly, for my taste! They do a smaller model too and a number of other headphones besides.

They have certainly made me wonder now what pairs of £130 to £250 Shure headphones sound like.

These are utterly durable and I have never had any other problems other than one which is my own anyway.

A shock to hear that good a sound quality from an otherwise unknown brand and they were leagues ahead of my Sennheiser CX-400 II which failed after 3 weeks. Oddly a Bluetooth headset of theirs broke down after 3 months and Sennheiser do not like the number 3 that is for sure.

Better still they come with 7 sets of ear-buds and a bright yellow memory foam set. The only problem being is that the memory foam set are way too large and fiddly to get in and uncomfortable. Odd as they only included one set and I have not found smaller ones available by this company?! This is even more strange when I can tell you my ear holes are somewhere between a medium and a large so I reckon the used Marvel's Hulk as a test dummy for the memory foams?! LMAO!

CORPORATE SHENANIGANS

I first purchased a Sony Walkman in 1985?! Yes 1985 and I was living in Brighton on the south coast at the time. I loved it and Sony became my brand of choice and this stayed that way for many years which included any portable music, any TVs and also seperate stack hifis, as we called them back then. Prices I remember are £50 (1985 Walkman that was Black with Green Strip), £600 (one TV 26" around 1989), £2,200 (TV DVD Home Cinema System 1999, Girlfriend bought), £1,100 (HIFI around 1988).

But since 1999, which technically I did not purchase anyway, the only thing I bought was a Sony PSP butthe whole UMD thing cheesed off a great many people, and companies! The PSP Go, or whatever it was called, I was told went down like a 'lead balloon' and this is probably because they reied to tie people down even further ... APPLE-STYLEE?! LMAO.

I am being unfair but only in the extent that it always goes the same way and this is what is wrong with the world and has been for sometime now.

Small company becomes big, care less about customers it once did as you have now acquired a Steve Ballmer (head of Microsoft) type character ... or three.

Once innovative are now becoming restrictive and the reason is always the same... MONEY FOR NOTHING, or OLD ROPE whichever you prefer. Something that unless your rich and powerful you get locked up for.

So your planning to can manufacturing TVs? Well maybe it is because there are many hoards of people like me who started deserting you over the last dozen years or so? So you stop producing TVs but who is to say that you stubborn insistence to stay with these tactics will not then result in you announcing OTHER things you will stop producing?!

Anyway you can counter this a little by pumping up all levels of a custom preset on the Equalizer to maximum ad this surprisingly does not distort the sound in anyway. On PowerAmp on my phone I only have to BREATHE on the touch-screen on the equalizer settings and the sound will distort?! Oh OK yes I am exaggerating but only a little that is the crazy thing! I wondered why in the hell it was included at all its far more trouble than it is worth it really is. I have spent night after night messing with the thing when all along I fialed to realise it was the European Union that had wasted many nights of my time I cannot get back...hmmm perhaps a legal case against them might be in order?!

I just wish that these corporates would get together and go throw themselves in a river, I do not know what they are teaching in Business Degrees lately but if these actions are of a result of that these Universities should be lambasted for this.

SONY WALKMAN NWZ-A845 (older is better)

In my previous post I stated how I walked around Sainsburys supermarket with a grin on my face and goosebumps...

...well here is the reason why that took place.

The Sony Walkman NWZ-A845 and despite it being an older model I deliberately went for this over its newer version, the NWZ-A865, as this is way better to look at not to mention noticeably thinner. Why do companies like Sony bring out such a fantastic design and then ruin it with the replacement?!

I could have purchased the A865 brand new for £20 more than I paid for this which was obviously used, hmm maybe this music blog can double up on the best USED items to buy?! LMAO.

The sound from this had a clarity I have never heard previously before anywhere and I was utterly shocked at it being literally worlds away from anything I have had in the past and that includes a 160GB Apple iPod classic. So I now know that the reviewers that stated that the Apple iPods sounded better where lying!

As I had read on the internet this is not only MUTED by the EU but also that it is noticeable as, as they stated, once you hit 25 on the volume level any other increases from there up to the maximum of 30 makes NO DIFFERENCE whatsoever! In fact I find this true when I hit 24!

Now I have known people to be so upset with this that they have sold theirs even though they loved the device and whenever I read this I thought it was foolish, even before I received this one?!

The reason is that you can buy a small amplifier for these as you can any portable device and that includes smartphones. These are made by Fujiyama and are called the Fiio and they range from £8.00, yes eight, to £20, £50 and continue on until around £200.

The Sony also has a built in FM Radio which is nice but not primarily what I bought it for but it works well. The only thing is that whenever I see anything with the letters 'FM' I wonder how long radio will be around on that what with DAB being around a few years now?! There is no station names though on it but I do not really care.

In fact there were a couple of things, albeit slight, that if slightly better would make this about the best gadget I have EVER OWNED, BAR NONE!!

DAB instead of FM would be one, though being louder than the two smartphones I have owned, a Sweex Optimuo AND an Apple iPod Classic this is missing a couple of levels. Damn the EU and their 80dB limit because they just cannot help treating their public like little children and getting paid royally for the privilege?! Oops that is another blog entirely, lol.

Another would be 32GB or even 64GB Memory or better still a bloody SD CARD SLOT YOU MORONS?! LOL. You put them on the phones so put them on the media players. A phone is A PHONE that seems to be able to do media, albeit badly on many occasions. While a MEDIA PLAYER IS A MEDIA PLAYER?! One is designed to do this from the ground up hence its existence while the other is NOT!! It is not difficult to work out and like an ex friend said to me before we fell out ... IT's NOT ROCKET SCIENCE?!

If you all want to keep selling these kind of products and do not want them going the way of what I hear Sony TVs are going then I suggest you stop the messing around with many things, stop the corralling of sheep as your actions have not gone unnoticed and try selling the public and the specific groups you are targeting with ... WHAT THEY BLOODY WANT?!?!

What I have in the pictures below is a nigh on perfect gadget and OK I can live without the DAB, sure, and just another thing on my wanted list. BUT check the laws on the supposed EU limits on sound, do not let them push you around like they do us. Add an SD Card slot....

I digress ... again! This Sony Walkman is unbelievably thin when held in the hand and yet it does not feel loose or fragile in any way. In fact it feels of superior quality entirely.

Under the last photograph which is of the sockets at the bottom of the device is a little prelude into Part TWO of this review, albeit on another gadget linked to this one. ;)

Right the last photo showing the 3.5mm jack and docking/charging socket.

Now I have discovered that the limitation by the EU is applied to the 3.5mm jack socket? So sound coming from the dock would be LOUDER?! You would think that someone would think of a way to get around this right? Well they DID!! After reading a great many reviews on the Fiio Headphone amplifiers I realised that as well as plugging them into a jack socket out of the box you can also buy an adaptor that takes the sound from the DOCK SOCKET?! This includes all portable devices provided that they had a dock socket that can carry a sound signal.

I have a couple of theories that include variations on this and over the next month I will be testing my theories and I have not read of anyone else trying my theory out on the Internet, well one of the two, but I full intend to cover them right here.

Oh dear that now means THREE PARTS?! LMAO!

REDISCOVERING MUSIC YOU HAVE HEARD FOR YEARS - Prelude

Well I must put a little note in here and a preview to something I will post tomorrow.

It will go further into the minefields of what I previously posted about but I will also be revealing some gadgets for music too, one I have own already it seems I a was unfairly harsh on and another that I have just acquired!

I shall point out that part of the topic involved my ears and the NHS and though this should technically be in the other blog I have on corruption, which oddly has far more visitors by a country mile than any of my others. Maybe that evidence does seem to be having an affect.

Yesterday I walked around Sainsburys listening to music with a constant smile on my face and goosebumps?! I have heard some good sounds of late, albeit MUTED a little, but yesterday AND today and pardon the pun one is not intended I could NOT believe my ears?!

I have also discovered something that is quite interesting and fully intend to put this to the test in the next couple of weeks!!

It seems that the EU 80dB limit that everyone seems to adhere to despite it not being a law set in stone is not quite as set in stone as the powers that be had first intended...

...more on that in a couple of weeks time when I have put these theories to the test and make sure I have not misinterpreted something to do with a certain item of hardware, which seems to have an EXTRA workaround that if true would be ... fantastic and I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Part ONE tomorrow with some photographs and Part TWO in two weeks time, yes well I have to wait too you know?!?! Hehehe.

LMFAO!!

QUEEN

Now there IS a long list bit most notably...

A Day at the Races
A Night at the Opera
The Miracle
News of the World

Hmm cannot recall the names of hand currently so need to edit this at a later date!

LED ZEPPELIN

Everything!!

This for me was another ground breaking outfit and what can be said about these guys that has not been said previously?!

There music is still used today by many modern artists and most notably ...

Kashmir in Puff Daddy's Come With Me and..
Immigrant Song by Trent Raznor & Atticus Ross with Karen O for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Daniel Craig version)

Then there is of course...

Stairway to Heaven that often gets voted greatest track of all time!

One thing about their catalogue and one I most remember is the remastered box set that was released years ago with the crop circles on the cover. I wanted that real bad and remember seeing it in the then Our Price stores. I refused to go for the smaller remaster box and waited for the big one but never got round to it.

I never found out if it did improve the original recordings at all but did hear rumours that it didn't do a great deal so maybe I saved a great deal of cash on that one!

I have just realised I have never looked them up on Amazon to see if their have been any other reissues, oh don't you just love reissues and you pay over and over to edge closer and closer to what you wanted, and indeed expected, the first time round.

Most of the time, as I have constantly explained to so-called audiophiles, is that CDs only sound crap if they were made like crap in the first place! Whether this is was the case with Led Zeps albums I do not know.

DIRE STRAITS

How could I not?

Brothers in Arms
Love Over Gold
Dire Straits
On Every Street

Man my world changed in 1985 when I heard Money for Nothing and then bought the audio tape version of Brothers in Arms!

Changed again when I bought Love Over Gold!

Mark Knopfler you dah man!!

THE MOODY BLUES

Another set of classics for me but often comes in two flavours...

The tracks that are melodious, ground breaking with use of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, I think it was, and then the stuff that sounds very 1960's and rather like Sid Barret's Pink Floyd on Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Well at times that is, lol.

Days of Future Passed (Nights in White Satin one)
In Search of the Lost Chord
To Our Children's Children's Children
A Question of Balance (particularly Melancholy Man)
...

Have to come back to that list doing all these from memory alone, lmao.

RADIOHEAD

Oh well this one is the hardest one to describe and at times the most surprising for me.

I had long since been familiar with the album everyone knows and its main tracks released as singles, like Karma Police, Paranoid Android and No Surprises but to my shock and many years later three albums for me shot above that one as my favourites...

Amnesiac
The King of Limbs
In Rainbows
OK Computer
Hail to the Thief

These are placed in order, hmm no they are not lol, well the first three I love more so than OK Computer! All albums are classics in their own right!

Also out of my main artists these are, along with Moby, one of the few still producing tunes?!

Not heard Tom Yorke's The Erazer yet.

Love the way he names some of his songs and just another facet of this band that makes them unique in every way.

MOBY

Oh Moby! I have been smitten with his stuff since I first heard Porcelain when I attending university.

The albums and not a bad one in there at all amongst his later creations. A rare thing.

Wait for Me
Play
Destroyed (latest one)
Hotel
18

This man has such talent it slays me as all my favourite artists do. Pretty much unappreciated in his time if you ask me and has had great collaborations with film scoring or some great tracks used in famous films. Like James Bond and The Bourne Identity for just two of these!

This man also a genius in music along with a certain band who's singer is a lyrical genius that follows this one!

JEAN MICHEL JARRE

Another genius in my mind and like Pink Floyd I actually attended one of his concerts!

Brilliant and moving in its own unique way and of his albums for me the best are...

Oxygene (you did not think I would omit this did you?!)
Equinoxe
Chronologie
Rendez-vous
Revolutions
Oxygene 2
Magnetic Fields

There is one that I do not know if I will ever include it or leave it off and that is the infamous album Music for Supermarkets...

Which he recorded, made a copy then destroyed the master tapes and sold it off to the highest bidder and it vanished in the annals of time!

Don't you just love artists that do crazy things like that?

Except in this instance the owner could do a digital copy and damn well send me one?!?! LMAO!!

Like the other artists I will feature I may be back on to edit this when I am more ... 'on the ball' so to speak1

MIKE OLDFIELD

Well now that I have sensibly changed to title of this post I will run through a series of posts dedicated to the artists I admire the most and those I consider genius'.

These will cover a broader spectrum than you might thing and some will not actually make it in here due to the types of modern music this is meant to cover. One in particular would be Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart!

Mike Oldfield. Oh what a genius he is and of the albums of his I absolutely adore and some which failed to get the recognition they deserve are ...

Tubular Bells
Tubular Bells III
Ommadawn
Hergest Ridge
Platinum
Tres Lunas
Song of Distant Earth
Music of the Spheres

I admit there are still some I have not gotten round to listen to just yet, lol.

Tres Lunas is an oddity because when I first heard it I would swear I had heard it before but had never heard the album before ever. SO I ended up presuming it had been used in a film, TV programme or a TV advert and it had stuck in the back of my mind but is odd because...

Music of the Spheres and as beautiful as it is it comprises of the musical instruments normally only heard in classical music. Indeed the first time I heard any of this album at all was on Classic FM and I thought 'hey, this sounds like Mike Oldfield but it cannot be?'

Also impressive is that I was playing the CD in the background with a friend round and he turned and said 'this sounds like Mike Oldfield?!' That was my late friend Kenneth Walter Bunn and may the man rest in peace! Miss you old friend. He is the reason I started these blogs.

Now may have missed out a few too, bit tired right now so not thinking straight. I will edit this as and when I need to as probably I will need to do the others that follow.

SONY ...THE DARK SIDE: MUSIC PLAYER DISCREPENCIES

Further to my recent remarks today I found a player that I thought would fit the bill...barely!

Unfortunately it means going to the ... dark side with the manufacturer and that means Sony. Still it could be worse as it could be Apple, lol!

The model in question is the...

Sony NWZ-A865B 16GB £144

Now bizarrely I came up with a discrepancy here that I had spotted before and forgotten about and that is the vast, and I DO MEAN VAST, difference in prices for the extra memory that is quite honestly a rip off!

Now the above model I can find on Amazon for around £140 but have seen it in a local store for under £100.

Yet the one below, which would be far better for FLAC file storage has an extra 16GB but costs you a premium of £176?! Oddly Sandisk Micro SD Cards of that size are ... currently £7.00 on Amazon so why are they allowed to make £176 for hardware that is £7?!?!

More to the point WHY is this not outlawed?!

The number differences coincide with the differences in memory with the 5 above referring to the smaller memory installed and the 6 just prior the the 'B' being the larger. This seems to work this way with all the MP3 Players made by Sony that I have seen. I do not know how they sell these players at all, I really don't! I wonder if they will do what they are now stating to do with their TV manufacturing and instead of being sensible and not utter twats towards their customers will refuse to make any more and announce cancellation of production?!

TWATS!

Sony NWZ-A866B 32GB £320 (extra £176?!)

I used to adore Sony as I did Apple and many other companies that I could mention and I am sure I am only one of a fungous number of people that used to feel like that but now have nothing but contempt for these companies.

Like I said I may have to go over to the dark side!

Oddly I noticed something else, I visited PC World while I was out and not ONE player had an SD Card slot?! Yet they SELL memory cards and there are plenty of players around that do. As long as they are not Samsung, Sony, Philips, Apple and a few others...

Sandisk (famous for quality memory chips), Transcend (like Sandisk) and another and arguably bigger name is Creative and their Zens!

I also checked Tescos and Sainsburys and the same applied with the latter only having a board up stating they now stock the latest Apple iPods but had pictures of the previous 6th generation?! Oh dear!

Now why would stores that have racks of memory cards NOT stock the players that take them and sell ones no one wants or half of us do not want?! Plus the ones that will NEVER sell?! When I say never sell I mean like the £320 32GB Sony listed above and if you have not worked it out for yourselves that is £10 PER GIGABYTE!!

Bloody good job hard disks are not priced like that?!

These overseas manufacturers must think we are bloody stupid to pay these premiums?!

ATOMIC FLOYD - CURRENT WEAPONS OF CHOICE

I got a little lucky, or unlucky depending on your point of view, recently with an absolute steal of a find I could not really afford at the time.

Previously using a set of headphones that although sounding very good I could not get on with the earbuds provided even though there were 6 sets plus one Memory Foam set?! These were AiAiAi Y Connects and I recently walked into a cash converters and saw a pair of earphones that had been on my Amazon wish list for about a year.

More curiously is the fact that these are very unusual headphones and even one brother who knows all about this stuff had not seen them before nor even heard of them when I showed them to him?!

These are Atomic Floyd Airjax Titanium 2s and normally retailing for way over £100 and closer to £150 odd I managed to acquire these for £50 after knocking them down on the price?!

I should not have done it but I though god knows when I will ever again be in a position to buy something like this?! It was these of Shure SE535, err or 525s cannot remember now. As I cannot seem to find ones that seal in the ear that do not drive me crazy, a shame as the sound is great, when I saw these ones I thought they would be perfect and so far they are. That is apart for the fact that my Sweex Optimuo player was already a pain in the rear in either refusing to read its own NAND memory OR the micro SDCARD and not turning the volume down two levels every time you touch a button, or its annoying user interface which was nothing like the pictures suggested. I digress ... oh wait it not only does it not play FLAC files but it is now refusing to play half my OGG files too?!

I digress.

The other thing is that despite what they say about playing music on a smart phone I will let you into a little secret, they are CRAP. Although I have not tried the HTC Beats Audio ones and I had wanted one of these in the hope that what inflictions previous ones had would not be the case for the HTC's. But I do not know and had I bought them and they suffered from the same thing then I would come to the conclusion that the rumours that the European Union is forcing them to turn the volumes down must be true and I would take the EU to court over it. Yes you heard me correct, what a bunch of halfwits and money wasters that came up with that ruling?! Piss off and mind your own fecking business you morons! Oh well that last statement is only meant in the event that this is the case and these companies are just making shoddy products they are charging you over the top money for and trying to lay the blame at someone elses door. Hmm why do I say that? Well this is what is claimed for Sony's musics players. UMM HELLOOOO THEY ARE MUSIC PLAYERS ITS WHAT THEY DO AND YOU ARE STOPPING THEM FROM DOING THAT?!?! Oh off topic again I DO apologise, yes many people complain about Sony's players being muted by the EU and if this is the case then why does my crappy little Sweex Optimuo sound a great deal louder then my Motorola Smartphone?!

How can it be that a huge company like Sony get their players stifled and Sweex does not? Anyone care to think money is behind this?!

So I am now searching high and low for an affordable music player that can handle all my FLAC files and has a SDCARD slot, now huge touch screen using up the battery rapidly and sounds good and not muted and that I do not need to take a mortgage out for and will not break down the first time it is breathed upon and does not use iTunes?!?!?!

Yes well i have already been looking for that one for a year now, now looking at over brands I have not heard of, like Coby and Energy Sistem (how its spelt) and I can tell you there is nothing I have EVER shopped for in my ENTIRE life that is this frustrating and it is an absolute joke.

If they all had SDCARD slots in it would be a great deal easier but I would end up with another brand I used to adore but have gone off, and admitted to me on the phone were rigging the games machines in not so many words, and that is Sony?! Except the one I like they now no longer do and a butt ugly one has taken its place?!

GOD HELP ME BEFORE I GO INSANE?!?! LMAO!!!

This also applies to headphones as even the biggest brands I read horror stories of one side, always ONE SIDE, of the headphones packing up. I have even read it about these and I am talking about headphones costing £80 to over £250 and ask myself how in the hell this can be possible?! I first wanted to try out the Beats Headphones by Monster Cable until I started reading this. Mind you could be fakes going around or reviewers could be fake and from rival manufacturers even?!

I should add that I have owned TWO Sennheiser products, used to love their stuff, and BOTH were brand new, expensive and both failed after awhile with one after three weeks and the other after three months. The first was CX-400 IIs and the other a gorgeously designed bluetooth headset for phone conversations. Both were great until they ... FAILED. I contacted Sennheiser about these a couple of times but never received an answer. My answer, however, is to NEVER touch Sennheiser products ever again.

I have had the same difficulties with Freeview TV boxes too. Never had one that worked properly to this day!

Turn a blind eye for money and it inevitably becomes a god awful mess!

Anyway the headphones...

They are Titanium and you do not notice they are on, they are not sticking inside your ears either.

Braided leads are the only downside as they do tend to tangle easily, took me 5 minutes just to get them circled like that and not correctly!

A clever hard case but honestly needed to be slightly bigger. Clever in that you squeeze the sides to open it.

The box that caused a double take when I recognised the phones on the other side of the clear plastic!

They are good and for rock, pop, classical and the like but if you want them for bass, as I suspect the owner of these did, do not buy them!

Goodies... two large jack adaptors, not entirely sure why, airplane adaptor rubber sleeves for ear hooks I for one do not need and on the right is un-screwable allen key as the headphones can be adjusted up and down the titanium shaft for perfect fit?! Oh a membership card thing inside too.
